The project is conceived as an exhibition with a web portal that enables interactive cooperation of the audience by enabling them to evaluate the content and meaning of an artwork. The works by various artists selected by the authors of the project can be viewed on the web page (web catalogue) and seen live at Škuc Gallery. The viewers are invited to add their own interpretation of the content and/or meaning, critique a suggestion, a proposal or any kind of idea related to the individual works via the web page and thus have the opportunity of eventually possessing the work itself. After reviewing all the comments written about their work, every artist presented at the exhibition will select the person who, in their opinion, really deserves to own the artwork. There is, of course, the possibility that the artist rejects all the interpretations if they do not achieve the desired effect.
With this project, we seek to question the evaluation of artworks and the various forms of relationship between the audience and artistic perception, value of artworks and their significance in contemporary society. We are attempting to create alternative communication between the artist and the public that would lead to a quality leap toward better evaluation of artworks, which is all too often subject to ruthless market manipulation.
BridA (Sendi Mango, Tom Kerševan, Jurij Pavlica) and Cesare Pietroiusti invited various artists to cooperate in the project based on their knowledge of the artists, their work, their critical thought and wish to participate in the project which seeks to examine key questions of contemporary capitalist art system.
Therefore, we invite all visitors to write their comments, interpretations or any thought prompted by a particular work and thus, only with their social capital, secure the artwork of their selected artist.
